Christophe Pichon Pere & Fils Promesse AOP Côte Rôtie, 2022

With 6% Viognier, from 50-year-old vines with 14 months in first- and second-fill oak. A black, deep purple opaque appearance. A little shy on the nose with dark fruit, toffee/cream, tar, chocolate brownie, cold smoke and black olive elements. With a medium acidity, it is dry, with medium-plus dimensions: extract, fine tannins and body, a lovely length, nice poise, presence and depth of fruit (if not yet fanned out), black plum and olive, tar/smoke, hickory and bitter chocolate towards a medium-plus finish.
