Oozing tropical fruit aromas such as pineapple, guava and mango, set off against stone fruit notes of apricot and red apple. As an everyday quaffer, it is hard to beat this friendly white that's bursting at the seams with flavours that evoke warm Sicilian evenings. On the palate, there's peach, pineapple, papaya and even a hint of cinnamon (from the grape rather than from oak). At 12.5%, this hits the spot, and there is enough acidity to keep ticking over for a year or two. 2026-2028–MP.

CORTESE NOSTRU CARRICANTE TERRE SICILIANE IGP ORGANIC, 2025
Tightly knit and linear, this has a saline edge and notes of modelling clay, tangerine, lime, broom, bay and almond. The palate has a nutty complexity reminiscent of hazelnuts, together with camomile, and citrus notes of orange, lemon and lime. If the Catarratto is lush and obvious then this is just the opposite, with a delicate seam of mineral and citrus fruit, more Sancerre than Ozzie Chardonnay. 2026-2029–MP.
