The 2021 Châteauneuf-du-Pape from Domaine Berthet-Rayne is restrained on the nose, with a subtle earthiness and timid red berry hints. This ample, velvety red wine really comes alive on the palate though, with seductive baked fruit and spice notes. Lingering dark chocolate and herbal nuances lengthen the finish. Needs time for its powerful tannins to soften. 2025-2037–JB
