Grenache and Syrah are southern France’s vinous soulmates: Grenache provides perfumed red fruit flavours and a voluptuous body; Syrah acidity, structure, darker fruit and savoury spice. The 2019 from Sichel is a harmonious marriage of the two with its heady red fruit top notes and underlying dark fruits and meaty nuances. Very bold and tannic at present. Needs a couple of years to mellow. 2026-2032–JB
