I believe that anything made with love tastes better, and Giovanna Tantini’s Ettore, the wine she has dedicated to her son, is an excellent illustration of this idea. Made from a blend of appassimento Corvina Veronese and fresh Merlot grapes, this memorable wine is beginning to blossom into maturity. Its scent is complex with an attractive combination of red berries, oak spice, leather and wildflowers. The concentrated red fruit of the palate harmonizes with notes of clove and nutmeg from 24 months in French barrique, while the fine-grained tannin has had the time to integrate, providing a seamless framework. 2023-2029–LW
