Classic 'Douro Bake' nose of dark chocolate, bramble, fig, cooked black plum, liquorice and pencil shavings. The palate is broad and structured, with firm tannins and surprisingly fresh acidity framing black fruit including plum, cherry, damson and mulberry, supported by spicy cocoa powder, cedar and vanilla. The finish shows the first hint of tertiary. All-in-all, a tidy Douro red that provides excellent current drinking and is extremely food-friendly. 2027-2030 – MP
