Medium ruby with fragrant, even delicate notes of red currant, pomegranate, red cherry, violets, blueberry and red plum. The palate is lively and marked by a gorgeous line of acidity that carries the fruit and the soft, melded tannins. There are notes of sour cherry, garrigue, cranberry, small dark berries and liquorice, suggesting a whiff of oak. This is a superbly balanced and intriguing red made from a cluster of local varieties in the impoverished soils of Terra Alta. An absolute winner at this price. 2027-2031 – MP
