Producer

Markus Molitor

The keen-eyed will note the words ‘white cap’, which is Molitor code for ‘nearly dry’. Kinheimer Hubertuslay is a classic steep, south-facing slope on the Mosel just downstream of Ürzig, where the growing season allows for a late harvest of non-botrytis-affected grapes; these are Markus’s favourite. What he gets out of this is depth, focus and complexity in a dry table wine needing almost no oak influence to wow the socks off those lucky enough to taste it. There is wet stone, sherbet, lime, lemongrass, Granny Smith and white peach, with a fine, lingering finish. 2028-2050 – MP
