‘Tradition’ may be Markus’s entry-level wine, but it doesn’t taste like one. Invariably meticulous, the master Markus has guided this through spontaneous fermentation towards its slatey, lemon-oil-infused destination with considerable skill keeping the laser-sharp focus whilst heroing the fruit. Of course, it is not a heavyweight but has more presence than most and will maintain its composure well into the early 2030s. A proper introduction to a first-class winemaker. 2027-2033 – MP
