Cartizze is the handkerchief-sized vineyard (105 Ha) just above Valdobbiadene. It is impossibly steep and has, since records began, been credited with producing the finest Prosecco of all. It's still tank method and still 100% Glera but this patch of land produces grapes with an extra gear: pear, apple, melon and quince are all here, but there is also a whiff of something more exotic like lychee and green mango. Carlo insists on making this with a very low dosage and so, if you like your fizz bone dry, this is the one for you. It is expensive for Prosecco, but Cartizze has always commanded a significant premium due to the difficulty involved in harvesting the grapes. Having said that, it is very long and impeccably balanced, with lemony acidity and a creamy finish. 2027-2030 – MP.
